RIG KONTROL 3 FAQ

Good questions.
Straight answers.

Does Rig Kontrol 3 work on Apple silicon Macs?

NeuRig is being developed to bring Rig Kontrol 3 footswitch and expression control to Apple silicon Macs (M1 and newer). There is no public release yet; confirmed compatibility will be announced at launch.

Is this a Rig Kontrol 3 driver for modern macOS?

NeuRig is an independent app focused on using Rig Kontrol 3 as a MIDI foot controller on a modern Mac. It is not an official Native Instruments driver and does not provide an audio-interface driver.

Can I control Ableton Live, Guitar Rig or other plugins?

NeuRig sends MIDI CC, Note and Program Change messages. You can map these in MIDI-capable software such as Ableton Live or a guitar-plugin host. The receiving app must support the message and channel you choose; mappings and compatibility vary by app.

Can each button use a different MIDI channel?

Yes. Each control can use its own MIDI channel and output: Mac, physical MIDI OUT, or both. Match the channel and message to the receiving software or hardware. NeuRig requires your Mac to remain connected by USB.

What happened to official Rig Kontrol 3 support?

Native Instruments lists Rig Kontrol 3 as legacy hardware, with official Mac support ending at OS X 10.10. NeuRig is a separate project for a modern MIDI workflow; it does not restore the original Guitar Rig integration or official support. See Native Instruments’ macOS compatibility information.

What do I get by joining the early-bird list?

You will receive the NeuRig early-bird discount offer when it launches, along with news about beta openings and release availability. Joining is free and does not commit you to a purchase. Pricing, the discount amount and release date have not been announced.

Can I download NeuRig now?

There is no public download yet. Join the early-bird list to hear when beta testing opens and when NeuRig is ready. Signing up does not guarantee a beta place.

Does NeuRig restore audio inputs and outputs?

No. This release focuses on footswitches, expression and MIDI control. Use a separate supported audio interface for your instrument and audio output. CoreAudio support is planned for NeuRig Ultra, a future edition still in development.
